Park Blonje appeared in Smolensk in 1830 on the site of the former parade ground in the center of the city. Guests especially like the light and music fountain - its streams change shape and color to soft music. This fountain is considered an informal sight of Smolensk. A lot of money was allocated for its opening. As a result, the fountain did not quite live up to the expectations of the townspeople: there was no promised chic and glitter in it. True, the authorities promised to fix the situation for some birthday of the city.
The park became famous after one of the first monuments in Russia - the monument to Mikhail Glinka - was opened here in 1885. After the end of the Great Patriotic War, German trophies appeared in Blonje - a bronze statue of a deer and two lions.
Unfortunately, in the past few years many old and beautiful trees have been cut down in the park. Local residents were against such a massive logging, but the local authorities still took this step. Now the park is not so unique as it was 5-7 years ago.
