"Jazz on the Oder" (website) is one of the oldest Polish jazz festivals: the first time he took place in 1964 in the cult student club "Palacyk" and from that moment he began to play an important role on the Polish music scene. To receive the award at this festival, to attract the attention of the jury or critics - all this was for young musicians to pass into a professional career.

Due to the competition, which was the most important element of the festival, the stars of the Polish jazz scene became known: Ewa Bem, Wlodzimierz Nahorny, Zbigniew Seifert, Krzesimir Debski, Jaroslaw Smietana, Janusz Strobel, Piotr Baron, Henryk Miskiewicz, Tomasz Szukalski, Andrzej Zaucha and many others. Over time, the profile of the festival has changed, stars of European and world jazz began to take part in it, but the contest, which "jazz personalities" declare themselves, is still the main event of the event.
