There are thousands of lakes in China, but if you ask the inhabitants of the Middle Kingdom which one is worth visiting first, those without hesitation will reply that Taihu. This lake in Jiangsu Province is considered to be one of the most beautiful in the country, and by area it occupies an honorable third place after the giants of Dongting and Poyang. Despite its impressive size, Taihu has a small depth - an average of about two meters throughout the territory. On the lake, along with a large number of fish, a river pearl is extracted.

But this is not all the benefits generously endowed by the Chinese to Taihu. Almost in the center of the lake is a large island where for many years Bilochun green tea has been grown, which is highly valued all over the world. Tourists are allowed to visit tea plantations (by the way, here also grow all kinds of fruit trees). And you can get here by the bridge over the Taihu.

To the lake itself it is better to get by car from the administrative center of Jiangsu Province - Nanjing, which is about 280 kilometers from Shanghai

To get acquainted with Taih more closely, be sure to take a walk on the yacht, because the island with tea plantations is far from the only one. According to scientists, there are about 90 islands on the lake, both large and tiny.
