There are thousands of lakes in China, but if you ask the inhabitants of the Middle Kingdom which one is worth visiting first, those without hesitation will reply that Taihu. This lake in Jiangsu Province is considered to be one of the most beautiful in the country, and by area it occupies an honorable third place after the giants of Dongting and Poyang. Despite its impressive size, Taihu has a small depth - an average of about two meters throughout the territory. On the lake, along with a large number of fish, a river pearl is extracted.
