The Shanghai Museum, which was founded in 1952, houses one of the largest collections of historical and cultural artifacts, not only in Asia but throughout the world. The museum has three large exhibition halls and eleven galleries in which there is an impressive collection of ancient works of Chinese masters . In the hall dedicated to the bronze very beloved by the Chinese, there are more than four hundred interesting pieces from this metal: musical instruments, weapons, cups, elegant ornaments.
The exhibits from ceramics and jade, belonging to different epochs, are truly amazing. Here and ceramic dishes, and small refined figurines, porcelain products, jewelry and talismans from jade. Seals were invented in China and were also originally made of jade, which has the necessary softness to mint on it a detailed drawing of a small size. The museum gallery with samples of seals is of great interest.
The Shanghai Museum has galleries dedicated to amazing and beautiful art of Chinese painting, sculpture and calligraphy; a whole gallery filled with all sorts of ancient coins and paper money not only from China, but also from neighboring countries; an exhibition of stunning pieces of furniture from the Ming and Qing Dynasty, carved from precious woods adorned with precious and semiprecious stones and metals
In addition there is also a whole room where an exhibition dedicated to small nations is exhibited and gathered various subjects, one way or another related to countries located near China, and ethnic minorities of this country. Among the exhibits of this hall there are many works of art of Tibetan artisans, swimming means of the people of the southern islands, national costumes of small peoples of China, Central Asia and India.

Its huge collection of over 8,000 exhibits covers whole historical epochs of the life of this beautiful country and the development of Chinese culture and helps to open another veil to the mysterious and colorful world of China.
