Rickshaw in Hanoi

If you plan to go to the capital of Vietnam, then get ready for a long pedestrian walks: the city authorities intend to ban rickshaws famous - one of the most popular means of transport among tourists

. sometimes perceived as the equivalent of a black London taxi, this tricycle will not stay long on the streets of Hanoi, as the local administration decided to seriously deal with the ever growing urban traffic jams. Such a radical decision was not a surprise: since 2009, new restrictions on the use of rickshaws have been regularly introduced in the city. One of the most painful was the official ban on the transportation of tourists, which, however, did not stop the drivers from continuing to ride around the city of foreign citizens.

Note that Hanoi is not the first Asian city to decide to get rid of a three-wheeled mode of transport. A similar ban on rickshaws was introduced several years ago in Indian Calcutta.
