Every year the strongest Turkish wrestlers compete against each other on Elmali Oil Wrestling Festival, which has existed for more than 600 years. Elmali is a small town at a mountain altitude of 2000 meters above sea level in the Taurus Mountains, away from the turquoise coast.
The event will be held from August 31 to September 2 at a large stadium located at the entrance to the city. Fighters from all over Turkey will come to the festival in the hope of winning the title in the competitions, which became popular even in the times of the Ottoman Empire. The competition will last three days, and more than 100 fighters will take part in them.
