Once, between the Setun and Filka rivers, far away from the city, travelers stopped to look at the panorama of Moscow from the height of the hill and bow to it. Later, the place became known as Poklonnaya Gora. Many years later, it was here that Napoleon was waiting in vain for the last happiness of Moscow, kneeling down.
The project of the memorial on Poklonnaya Hill was created back in 1942, but then, for known reasons, it was impossible to implement. Only in 1995, on May 5, the memorial was opened to the 50th anniversary of the victory over fascism. The central museum of the Great Patriotic War is located in the Pobediteley Square, to which the central alley leads. The exposition of the museum is divided into:
Hall of commanders, in which the names of the top command staff are immortalized, the Knights of the Order "Victory" opening the museum exposition. Zhukov, Konev, Malinovsky, Montgomery are only a part of the galaxy of famous generals who "meet" the museum's guests.
The names of 11,800 Heroes of the Soviet Union are immortalized in the Hall of Glory on white marble plates. In the center of the hall there is a bronze sculpture "The Soldier of Victory", over which the "Order of Victory" shines.
The muffled light, the threads of beads of descending tears, the sculptural composition "Sorrow" - all this is the Hall of Remembrance and Sorrow. "Requiem" by Mozart complements the atmosphere of the hall
The Military-Historical Exposition "Path to Victory" contains items telling about the course of the Great Patriotic War in the rear and at the fronts, collected weapons and newspapers exhibits of the time, reproduced atmosphere at the rate of the Commander-in-Chief
The pearl of the museum is six Dioram:
- "The Counteroffensive of Soviet Forces near Moscow in December 1941"
- "The Battle of Stalingrad. Connection of fronts "
- " Blockade of Leningrad "
- " Kursk battle "
- " Forcing the Dnieper "
- " Sturm of Berlin ",
Accompanied by audio compositions that convey the atmosphere of what they saw.
