Obukhov Bridge is one of the oldest bridges in St. Petersburg. It was built across the Fontanka River along the Saar Pershpektiva (later Tsarskoe Selo Prospekt, now Moscow) following other bridges across this river: Anichkov and Kalinkin. He was named Obukhov by the name of Obukhov, who built him "a man of the townspeople."
From the bridge there were the names: Obukhovsky Prospekt (in the 19th century - part of the present Moscow Avenue from the Haymarket Square to Fontanka) and Obukhov Square on Moskovsky Prospekt at the Fontanka River
In 1939 Obukhov Bridge was rebuilt, which changed its appearance . This was due to the fact that the width of the ferry remained at 16.5 meters, then as the width of the Moscow Prospect that was 30, 6 meters . To increase the capacity of one of the main transport highways of the city Obukhov Bridge it was necessary to expand . The authors of the project of the new crossing were the engineer В . В . Demchenko and the architect Л . А . Noskov . New Obukhov Bridge was made of concrete, its architectural design was re-created . The width of the new crossing was 30, 6 meters, length - 67 meters .
