Add a review about the Shatrovaya Tower of the Transfiguration Monastery
The octagonal corner Shatrovaya Tower is the only surviving tower of the Savior-Transfiguration Monastery, once located in the Astrakhan White City. It was built in 1607, when the traditional round towers were replaced by octahedral ones. The decor of the tower is made of polychrome tiles; a round stone tent in its upper part, a gilded weather vane in the form of a lion give an excellent idea of the monastery architecture of that time.
