September 4, 2012 Red October opened on the territory of the former confectionery factory "Red October". The gallery occupies the space of the Chocolate Shop, in which authentic cast-iron columns and floor tiles are preserved. The gallery's activities are aimed at promoting contemporary art and implementing art projects that meet international standards.
Art Space, which has already hosted major art exhibitions and events (Cosmoscow Fair, HELP KRYMYSK Charity auctions and Naked Hearts, Yannis's personal exhibitions Kunelis, Semyon Faibisovich and Sergey Bratkov) will become a permanent platform for acquaintance with the work of famous Russian and foreign artists.
Red October Gallery opened The personal exhibition of Vladimir Arkhipov "Homemade Russia". The exhibition featured a variety of ready made objects from the collection of the artist, who for more than 20 years has been collecting samples of people's design ideas. A shovel from a medical crutch or road sign, a sledge-chair, a dacha shower from old bus doors - for an artist these are real art objects that lack only the viewer's eyes and reflection to be represented in the museum.
In October, the Red Octobеr Gallery opened an exhibition of Ilya and Emily Kabakov "Monument to the Disappeared Civilization." In this form, the project was implemented in Palermo in 1999, in the destroyed complex of the beginning of the XX century, then in Kiev, at the First Biennale of Contemporary Art Arsenale 2012. The exhibition shows the life of the retired Soviet society as a whole, and also gives the opportunity to hear "lonely voice "of a small man almost buried under the grandiose hierarchical pyramid of the state.
In December in the gallery, a life-size ark was erected for a group exhibition of new Russian artists.
