Presenting today's Japan without sushi, checkered skirts of schoolgirls, anime and Theater is impossible. Scary, good-natured, evil and funny masks - that's what is considered the main treasure of Melpomene's amazing temple, but the accompanying chorus, drums and flute complement the already crazy effect of visiting such an exotic theater.
Theater, born in the 14th century, tells funny and tragic stories from the life of spirits and gods, demons and mere mortals, as well as about ruthless killers, wise Buddhist monks and generally archaic Japan.
The modern building of the National Theater but where all tourists, who are concerned with cultural baggage, try to get to without exception, is in the Shibuya area. Theatrical scaffolding acquired its big and cozy house not so long ago: on Sept. 15, 1983, having spent about 20 million USD, the present pride of Japan was opened, which was designed by the well-known architect and professor of the University of Hosei Oe Hiroshi.
The interior of the theater reaches an impressive 10 thousand square meters. m, and in the main hall can accommodate almost 500 spectators. In addition to the lounge with comfortable seating for the general public, a library and a lecture hall are open here
