Architecture

The Gallery of Modern Art was designed and built under the supervision of the architect Oswald Mathias in 1997. The museum building is a four-story cube. The facade of the museum is lined with light sandstone and is complemented by panels of red granite on the lower floor. The gallery is connected by underground passage to the main building of Kunsthalle.
