Sacre Coeur Basilica (Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Christ) is one of the main temples of all France, a place of pilgrimage for many believers from neighboring countries. The basilica was built in memory of the victims of the Franco-Prussian War. The construction of the Basilica of Sacré-Cœur took more than 40 years, as in parallel with the building of the temple it was required to strengthen the Montmartre hill - the highest point of Paris. Her address is 35, rue du Chevalier de la Barre. The entrance to the Cathedral is free, the crypt and the dome - about 5 EUR. Opening hours: Mon-Sun 6.00-23.00, Crypt and dome in the summer Mon-Sun 9.00-18.45, in the winter Mon-Sun 10.00-17.45.

Today, if you get to the gate of the Sacré-Cœur Basilique on the stairs or on a funicular, you can observe a wonderful panorama of one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Paris appears before the tourist in all its beauty ...

But is it possible to admire the city when in front of you the miracle of architecture is the snow-white basilica of Sacre Coeur ?! From this structure can not tear off the view. The uniqueness of the temple is that it is built from a special mineral mined in the town of Chateau-Landon in a suburb of Paris. This mineral has an interesting feature - it whitens under the influence of water

Sacré-Coeur

Therefore, for more than 100 years, the Basilica of Sacré-Cœur, standing on the highest hill in Paris, literally illuminates the city with its whiteness. Inside the basilica is no less beautiful than outside, so it's worth visiting for everyone.

There is a legend that if you pat your foot at the statue of St. Peter in the basilica, whatever one may say, you will return to Paris again.

My husband and I were on a bus tour, and it was mandatory for the program to visit the Basilica of Sacre Coeur. Of course, this work of architecture should be visited without hurrying, having a rest and walking pace, because the beauty is incredible. Unfortunately, the guide gave us about two hours to visit this place. I advise you to listen to the program in Russian, very exciting.
I'll start from the fact that this place is visited not only by tourists, but by local people just for walking, it's very beautiful there. It was built in ... Read full review

The White Soul of Paris 04 December 2013

Sakre Kehr - a favorite place for walks and visits for both the Parisians themselves and the guests of the beautiful capital of the fifth republic. Spiritualized and infused with religiosity - to a lesser extent than secularism, this place remains the most iconic in Montmartre. If you are in Paris for three days or more, check here without fail. To begin with, it's better to go to Montmartre, to the hill of the sacred heart from the side of the cemetery of Père Lachaise - then you avoid the unnecessary crowd and move picturesque trails to the top of Paris .... In Paris, I visited last year when I toured Europe, France, Germany, Poland and Belgium. Paris was the final and most welcome place to visit our program, in which our group spent 4 days together with a visit to the famous European Disneyland. In Paris we, of course, went to inspect a unique architectural monument - the Basilica of Sacre-Coeur, located on the Montmartre hill. The guide told us that originally this temple was being built "for atonement ... Read the whole review

Sacre Coeur and Montmartre Hill October 10, 2013

Sacré-Coeur basilica is located on the hill of Montmartre, the highest natural point of Paris. This is a very beautiful temple of white stone. Inside, as in all the temples of Paris, there is silence, space and pacification. Anyone who knows how to feel the atmosphere of Christian churches will not regret visiting this basilica
And the view of Paris from the foot of this temple is simply wonderful.
We went up to the temple on foot along the stone stairs, and before the rise decided to have supper. There were 2 restaurants in front of the stairs. In one gloomy waiter ... Read the full review
