Minister of Transport of France Frederic Cuvelier gave an official start to the construction of the project yesterday CDG Express - a railway line that will connect the main air haven of Paris to the city center.
The length of the future Gare de l'Est - Charles de Gaulle Airport, Terminal 2 is 32 km, and the trip to one end will take no more than 20 minutes. According to preliminary calculations, the implementation of the project will cost 1, 7 billion euros - the amount that will fully fall on the shoulders of organizations Réseau Ferré de France and Aéroports de Paris (the company that manages Paris airports). Although the completion of the construction and the launch of the branch are scheduled only in 2025, the approximate cost of the trip (excluding inflation) is known - 24 EUR (correspondingly 48 EUR round-trip).
Despite the fact that at the moment Charles de -Gall is already connected to the city center by a direct line of suburban electric trains (RER B), the creators of CDG Express are 100% sure of success. The main focus is on reliability: although the route from the North Station to the airport takes only half an hour (at a ticket price of 9 euros), RER trains have an unimportant reputation due to permanent breakages and delays. CDG Express passengers will be guaranteed a strict schedule with departure and arrival at the specified time.
