European dispatchers are planning to organize a mass strike on October 10. Against the creation of a unified air traffic control service
The last similar action held in June-month resulted in the cancellation of several thousands of flights across Europe . The dispatching unions of France, Italy, Spain and Portugal confirmed their participation in the new strike . In total, according to the Wall Street Journal, up to 14 thousand dispatchers will take part in the protest out of the 28 European countries . The reason for the anger of the air traffic controllers was the same: the project of the "single sky", developed by the European Commission, aimed at centralizing control over the air traffic of the continent . Its final implementation threatens to dismiss 10 thousand dispatchers, and the responsibility for the accidents will be borne on the shoulders of the future European air traffic management service .
Anyway, travelers are strongly advised to avoid flights on October 10. Otherwise, passengers should clarify on the eve of departure confirmation of the flight from the airline.
