Observatory for whale watching to be opened in Samana
Humpback whale jump
In January, the Dominican Republic begins the whale watching season. The annual pilgrimage of these amazing marine mammals to the Bay of Samana in the north-east of the country attracts, by the most conservative estimates, more than 40,000 tourists annually. The boat ride, which lasts about half an hour, allows tourists to take a look at the magnificent humpback whales that usually remain in the warm waters of the bay until March.

The whale watching season is very enthusiastic for both locals and foreign visitors. Samana Bay is rightly recognized as the "humpback whale house" in the Caribbean. These huge marine mammals sail into the waters of the northern coast of the Dominican Republic for annual marital rituals.

For the first time this season, for tourists who do not want to travel by water, a special observatory on the shore from where you can observe the humpback whales is open. The building, built with the support of the Ministry of the Environment of the Dominican Republic, is located near the city of Samana.
