Several American chains of fast food restaurants have expressed their desire to enter the Czech market. Among them were Church's Chicken - "chicken" fast food number two after KFC, Dairy Queen, owned by billionaire Warren Buffett, America's Diner and the well-known American pizza network Papa John's Pizza.
Since at the moment the American market is crowded with fast food restaurants, representatives of these brands are looking for new opportunities with a minimum of risk: they all expect to open their institutions in the Czech Republic in the near future on a franchise. The leader of the Czech fast food market is, undoubtedly, McDonalds, which has 88 restaurants in different cities of the country. It is followed by KFC, Starbucks and BurgerKing.
Of course, the onslaught of network monsters does not please the owners of local gastronomic institutions. First, new fast food will hit the profits of small restaurants and cafes, and secondly their entry to the local market spoils the image of the country known for its unique cuisine.
