The Clock Tower in Vyborg is a significant part of the city's history. In the early 15th century, the Pope himself advocated the erection of a cathedral in Vyborg. He even promised to all those who took part in the construction, the remission of sins. Naturally, after such a statement, the cathedral began to grow in leaps and bounds. And more than that, he became a stone. An interesting fact, because many religious buildings of that time were wooden.

The Clock Tower was originally a bell tower of the church. And in 1600 the clock was set on it. Then she suffered a fire, but after the recovery it grew and became stronger.

In general, the tower did not carry with fire. It has been rebuilt so many times because of fires, that it is difficult to imagine what happened during six centuries to the present day in its original form. With the clock, too, everything was wrong: in Stockholm they will be ordered, and they will suffer in the fire. That in Helsinki - and again they are burning the fire. True, the last time the clockwork was changed in the middle of the 18th century. Since then, it serves regularly.

In Soviet times on the Clock Tower there was an observation deck. The city looked so magnificent from such a height. Unfortunately, today you can not get inside the tower. It is closed to visitors, so tourists can only admire its facade.
