Add a review about the icon of the icon of the Mother of God "The Life-giving Spring" in Cherepovets

The Chapel of the Icon of the Mother of God "The Life-giving Spring" became the first stone chapel of Cherepovets . Until now, it is often called: "stone chapel" or "chapel on the shore ". Another name of the chapel is" Source ". It stands on the right bank of Jagorba, where from the 18th century until the end of the 19th century the wooden chapel was located . The new chapel was rebuilt jointly by the Resurrection Cathedral and donations from parishioners . Both the chapel and the source next to her were very revered by the citizens . Each chapel of Cherepovets was attributed to a certain church, and each had its own days for worship services . The Cross to the Source was held annually on the fifth day of the Easter week .

In the plan The design was a cross, the facades were strict and restrained, in a classical style. In contrast to ordinary chapels, this was built taking into account the sides of the world, which is usually done only when building temples. This made it possible in the end to make the chapel of the icon of the Mother of God a real temple.

Both the chapel and the source next to it were very revered by the citizens.

Originally there was no iconostasis inside, and the interior of the chapel was more than modest: there was not even any other light source, except that it got into the room through eight windows, equally on the northern and southern facade. The chapel was crowned with an octagonal dome-tent with a drum and head. Around the chapel was a front garden, which later expanded to a full-fledged garden called Source.

There are three stone chapels in Cherepovets: the icons of the Mother of God, the chapel of the Monk Philip Irapsky with the relics of the saint and the newest chapel of Nicholas the Wonderworker located at the city railway station.

After the establishment of the Soviet power, the chapel ceased to be a holy place: first in 1924 . it was used for a power station, and then for a storage room . The source that was beating nearby was flooded . In subsequent years the building it turned out to be completely abandoned, and the garden around it turned into a wasteland . The restoration of the chapel was started only in 2000 . This process was a long one, and for 10 years only the godfather held a chapel a year, and the rest of the time was closed . Finally, the decree of the bishop in the city opened the parish in honor of the icon, and the chapel began to be transformed into a full-fledged church . All works were conducted only by parishioners and lasted three weeks, and in 2014 . in the new church was served First Liturgy .
