Add a review about Sochi Maritime Station

Sochi is not only Russia's main resort on the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus and a modern ski center, but also a major seaport. The importance of the city as a port has always been great, so the southern sea gate of the country should have a "face" - the corresponding time of the Marine Station. The decision to build a new building of the port of Sochi was made by Stalin in the last years of his country's leadership. That is why the design of the project was commissioned by K. S. Alabyan, a recognized classic of the Stalin Empire,

The construction was completed already under Khrushchev, nevertheless, it is rightly considered a monument of Stalin's architecture. The date of the opening of the Maritime Station - 1955, the second author of the project, along with KS Alabyan, was L. B. Karlik.

Today the station is an architectural monument of federal significance. The main building has two floors, it is adjoined also by a two-storey gallery, shaped like the letter G. In the center of the building is its architectural dominant - the tower with a spire, which is made of stainless polished steel. The height of the tower is 71 meters. It is divided into three tiers, on which sculptured figures are embodied, embodying the four seasons and four directions of the world. Their author is the famous sculptor Ingal.

In front of the Maritime Station building - another sculpture, this time the goddess of navigation. It is the center of the fountain, installed on the station square.
The Maritime Terminal is also known for the fact that it was here, on the main deep-water berth for cruise ships, that an episode of Leonid Gaidai's most popular Soviet comedy "The Diamond Arm" was shot down.

The station is in the center of the city, the boulevard begins from it , walking along the embankment of the Black Sea. From the railway station to the Sea - 10-15 minutes on foot. From here you can go on pleasure boats, where you can take a walk on the sea.

International passenger traffic is carried out through the port of Sochi to Georgia - Batumi, Abkhazia - Gagra, Turkey - Trabzon.

Marine station is also known for the fact that it is here the main deep-water berth for cruise ships, an episode of Leonid Gaidai's most popular Soviet comedy comedy "The Diamond Arm" was shot - the farewell scene of Semen Semyonovich Gorbunkov with his family before embarking on a cruise on the Mikhail Svetlov liner.
