The Museum of History of Yekaterinburg was opened in 1940, as the House Museum of YM Sverdlov. The museum presents the only historical exposition in the Urals with wax figures of Peter I, Catherine I and Catherine II, founders of Ekaterinburg, Ural industrialists Demidovs, Emperor Nicholas II and members of his family. All the figures were made by the order of the museum by the Ural sculptors. The building in which the museum is located is a monument of history and culture of regional importance.
