He was housed in a house where from 1880 to 1883 the family of DN Mamin-Sibiryak, who rented a room from the mistress of the house-the wife of mine surveyor of the Berezovsky mine, Kh.I. Cherepanovoy.
In this house one of the first versions of the novel "Privalovskie Millions" was written. Until 2003, the building housed an exhibition of private collections, the scientific and educational department of the United Museum of Writers of the Urals and regularly hosted puppet shows.
The house where the museum is located is the rarest phenomenon of Russian wooden classicism in the architectural development of the city (since the life of wooden buildings in the Urals because of the climate is short-lived) . Houses of similar architecture formed the appearance of provincial Russian cities in the late XVIII-early XIX century .Currently, the house is sheathed with boards, window frames decorated with carved decoration . Museum courtyard paved with large granite slabs that were specially brought from the old streets of the city, which were built modern buildings .
