The museum is located in a two-story stone house built in the first third of the 19th century. The exposition presents manuscripts, photographs, editions of the writer's works, sketches from the city life, views of the Urals, St. Petersburg, household items of the 19th century.
The ethnographic part of the exhibition introduces visitors to the postal service middle of the XIX century, with the traditions and customs of the Russian people and is a monument road life in Russia at the time . The basis for this part of the exposition was partially restored architectural and spatial environment of the street and postal courtyard, which is a ly complex of buildings: the house, outbuildings (stables, coach house, forge), courtyard, paved and bordered by the Ural granite fence with wrought iron grilles, gates, entrance gates, black and white milestones . On the territory of the museum operates a smithy .
