The main Latvian resort of Jurmala is preparing to raise money from tourists: the city authorities decided to enrich the local tourist sector following the example of popular European cities.
Enter the tourist tax administration Jurmala plans in 2014. They will be taxed by all tourists who stay at local hotel establishments. Exceptions will be children under 6 years old, as well as some groups of state benefit recipients. The fee depends on the type of accommodation:
- 0, 7 Latvian lats (1 euro) in case of staying in a hotel or guest house;
- 0, 25 lats (35 cents) in case of staying in a sanatorium or any other medical institution;
- 0, 15 lats (21 eurocent) if you live in a camping or hostel
All the listed amounts are per person per day
We remind that a tourist tax, which, as a rule, does not exceed the amount in one EUR, operates in many tourist cities in Europe. The first Baltic city that established such a collection was the Lithuanian Palanga
