The Japanese government expects to increase the annual flow of foreign tourists to 20 million people by the Summer Olympics 2020.
The declared value is almost twice exceeds the actual benchmark, which was established at the end of 2013 at around 11.25 million travelers. "We had a great chance to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo," commented Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. He also asked the members of the Cabinet of Ministers to study in detail the restrictions and obstacles that make the arrival of foreign tourists in Japan difficult.
