February 23, 2014 in Tokyo will be one of the main sporting events in Japan - the annual Tokyo Marathon.

As well as is supposed to be the largest marathons of the planet, the competition will be held along the central streets of the Japanese capital along the main city sights. The race starts at the government's capital building, which was the world's tallest building until 2007, after which athletes will walk past the Imperial Palace, Hibiya Park, the Kaminarimon gates and the recently opened Tokyo Skytree television tower. The marathon will finish at the Tokyo International Exhibition Center Tokyo Big Sight, where the awards ceremony will take place.
