In 2013, the tourist flow to Japan increased by 23% compared to the previous year and reached the figure of 11, 25 million foreign tourists.

Most tourists came from South Korea. Their number was 2, 3 million, which is 21% higher than in 2012. In second place were tourists from Taiwan (21, 6 million), which showed an increase in tourist flow by 52% compared to last year. The third largest number was the number of tourists from China, which reached nearly one million. Compared to the previous year, it decreased by 6%.

Due to the large growth of tourist traffic in 2013, Japan managed to reach the previous level after that. As 2011, this figure fell by 24, 4 percent to 7 million as a result of the devastating earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disaster.
