The Palace of Reason, or the Palazzo della Rajone, is one of the most important monuments of architecture in Padua. It was built in the late 12th - early 13th centuries

Palazzo della Ragione shares two areas: the Grass area and the Fruit area. Together they form the huge market of Padua.

The main highlight of the palazzo is its roof. It is made in the form of an inverted ship's hull. The roof is made of lead sheets.

On the walls of the palazzo there are frescoes on the astrological theme. These are copies of the works of the great Giotto. The cycle of frescoes is divided into 12 months

The second floor of the palace is covered with floral ornament. Also in the Palace of Reason you can see the sundial and the Foucault pendulum

But the main feature of the palazzo, thanks to which he became famous, is his big central Hall. It is believed that this is the biggest hall in Europe with no additional supports.

The Palazzo building is over 80 m long, 27 m wide and 24 m high. The palace is surrounded by three tiers of arched terraces.

Visiting the Palace of Reason is paid. The Palazzo della Ragione is open to tourists all days except Monday. Visit the Palace of Reason only in the group by appointment.
