The fair of John the Baptist (Fiera di San Giovanni) is considered one of the brightest summer holidays in Cesena . The fair will start on June 21 and will last until June 24 . All the days of the fair there are large-scale celebrations, exhibitions, theatrical performances, excursions and so on . And the most interesting events unfold in the central city square . Here the residents and guests of the city will be able to taste and purchase products and dishes of local cuisine . Traditionally, on the last day of the exhibition, the brightest and colorful events are held, June 24 is the birthday of the patron saint of Cesena, John the Baptist .

Townspeople are proud of this event, because the fair has ancient traditions. Scientists have been mentioned about its holding back in pre-Christian times. The fair was arranged to celebrate the summer solstice and the final awakening of the forces of nature and all life after winter, according to an ancient pagan belief. The exact documentary evidence governing trade during the fair was found in the city archives and is dated June 5, 1638, when Cesena was part of the papal possessions.
