On Thursday, workers of the Athens city transport and railways throughout Greece spend a 24-hour strike, protesting against the reduction of wages, RIA Novosti reported.
So in Athens, three branches of the subway, commuter train and trams broke off, in normal mode only buses and trolley buses go. Because of the strike and Christmas sales in the center of the city a large traffic jam has formed.
The reason for the strike was that. Since January 1, the government of the country intends to transfer workers of transport companies to a single wage grid in the public sector, which will lead to further reduction of their salaries.
