1 Big Ben and London Double-Decker Bus (processed), 13 May 2011

January 13, 2014 drivers of London buses launched a protest action against unequal terms of payment. About 27 thousand employees will take part in the strike. The strike will last until the morning of January 14.

Drivers of some companies are unhappy that they receive less than their counterparts from other organizations. The difference in salary can be up to 3 GBP per hour.

Currently, there are 18 transport companies operating in the British capital, each of which has its own contract with employees. The strikers are trying to ensure that the companies have developed a uniform tariff scale for all bus drivers.

It is interesting that the protest action is supported by the majority of passengers who do not understand why on the same route, the fare at which is the same, drivers get different salary. In turn, the participants of the strike have already apologized to passengers for possible inconveniences: a strike of drivers can lead to another traffic collapse in London
