Musical instruments, skeletons, gold coins: items lying for several hundred years on the seabed with the legendary Mary Rose have their own museum in Portsmouth (UK), thus giving visitors a unique opportunity to touch the history of the most legendary shipwreck of the Italian War period.
Mary Rose was a three-deck sailing vessel, which was the flagship of the English navy under King Henry VIII Tudor. In 1945, during the defense of the Isle of Wight from the French King Francis I, Mary Rose sank with the greater part of the crew: only forty-five sailors managed to escape from the four hundred sailors.
The visitor moves around the museum along galleries built around the ship's skeleton at three different levels . Guns, cannons, propellers and marine equipment make it possible to get to know the daily life of the crew. The noise of the sea and the crackling of the decks complete the impressions of the seen.
The remains of books, coins, violins - a total of 19,000 original objects raised with Mary Rose are exhibited. According to official information, the construction of the museum and the creation of the collection cost £ 35 million
