"Subtleties" repeatedly wrote about the growing popularity of the British destinations in the world tourism market. And just a few days ago, the local Tourist Office of Visit Britain summed up the natural result: in 2013, the United Kingdom received 32, 9 million foreign citizens.
The figure indicated by 6% exceeded the similar indicator of last year's prescription. In addition, Britain managed to break the historic record of 2007, when 32, 8 million foreign guests visited the country. In parallel with the number of arrivals, the total amount of money spent also increased: from January to December, foreigners left 21 billion pounds sterling at the home of the Beatles and Rollings (+13% to last year's mark)
"Foreign visitors spend more money in the UK , than ever. This means only one thing: the strategy we have chosen is working. Taking into account the total income of 21 billion pounds, we can safely say that the tourism sector plays an increasingly important role in the British economy, "concluded Minister of Tourism Helen Grant.
Despite such loud statements, it should be clarified that in the UK a foreign tourist is not at all equivalent to a foreign visitor: only one third of the total number of travelers comes to foggy Albion for tourist purposes.
