Turkish Airlines opens tomorrow a new route from Istanbul to Malta that will be operated by Airbus A319 and Boeing 737 -700 five times a week. Thus, the Turkish air carrier will compete with Air Malta, which until now had no rivals in this direction. Departures from Istanbul are scheduled for 9:55 am and return at 5:45 am the next day.
Since November 4, Turkish Airlines will add a second daily flight from Istanbul to Tokyo, which is due to almost 100% fillability on the route. Airbus A330-200 will leave 0:50 and will land in the Japanese capital the next day, at 19:30. The return is scheduled for 22:30 with arrival in Istanbul at 4:30 in the morning. It is noteworthy that on Turkish-Tokyo route Turkish Airlines still has no competition from Japanese "grandees" of Japan Airlines or All nippon airways.
