By 2017, Istanbul will build the world's largest airport capable of hosting up to 150 million passengers annually. The colossal project will fully demonstrate the growing influence of Turkish Airlines, which in the next few years will be able to enter the top ten largest airlines of the world in terms of passenger traffic.

The future airport will include 6 runways (for comparison, there are only two in London Heathrow) a total area of ​​80 million square meters. In the first year after the opening, it will be able to serve up to 90 million people, and by 2020, when all buildings and services are put into operation, the passenger flow will be able to reach a record plate of 150 million. The airport will be located in the European part of the city, right on the Black Sea coast. The preliminary construction cost is estimated at 7 billion EUR.
