Panorama Plaza Mayor, Madrid

Plaza Mayor, Madrid's main square, will soon update its appearance. The facades, roofs and cornices of the buildings adjacent to the square will be rebuilt.

The head of the Spanish capital Ana Botelia said that the reconstruction will be completed in 2017 and will be timed to coincide with the 400th anniversary of Madrid's central square. The city budget allocated 3, 1 million EUR for repairs.

Plaza Mayor is one of the main attractions of Madrid. At least 10 million tourists visit the area every year. Such a serious number of people, whatever one may say, affects the condition of the adjacent buildings, which have been quite worn out in 25 years since the last reconstruction.
