This year, a record number of foreign tourists visited South Korea - 8 million people.

This was reported on Monday by the National Tourism Organization of Korea, noting that in honor of the 8 millionth tourist at the Incheon International Airport, a welcome event was organized.

After the number of foreign tourists in 2000 reached 5 million people every 4-5 years this number increased by 1 million people, and since 2009, when this figure was 7 million people, literally in one year the number of tourists increased by 1 million people

According to the National Tourism Organization of Korea, if such a trend to growth then by the end of the year this figure will increase by 12% compared to the previous year, amounting to 8 million 700 thousand people.

South Korea visited more than 16 thousand Russian citizens in October this year, which is 60% more than in October 2008.

Just over 5, 5 thousand people visited the South Korean tourists from the total number of tourists, which is 25% more than the same period of 2009. In just 10 months of this year, South Korea was visited almost 126 thousand Russian citizens, which is 16% more than in January-October 2009. The number of tourists for 10 months increased by 13% - to 48 thousand.
