Sharif Kamal - writer and classics of Tatar Soviet literature, public figure. The museum was opened in 1950 in an apartment where he lived with his family from 1927 to 1942. It was the first museum of the republic dedicated to the Tatar writer.

The museum includes a memorial apartment and a lecture and exhibition hall. The exposition is based on the memorial collection of Sharif Kamal. The present exposition was opened in 1980. The memorial situation of the writer's apartment was recreated. The furnishing of the museum-apartment conveys the life and lifestyle of Sharif Kamal, characteristic of the Kazan intelligentsia of that time.
