The historical center of Vyborg is small - it is all located on a narrow promontory between Vyborgsky Bay and the Bay of Protectnaya. The bay and the bay are connected by a narrow strait, through which the bridge is thrown, and in the strait on the island there is the Vyborg Castle.

It was erected by the architect Coulomb in 1730-1750 (at that time the fortress was larger than the whole city) and represents a whole labyrinth of earthen ramparts.

The East Vyborg fortifications located in the southeast of the city were erected under the leadership of Eduard Ivanovich Totleben in the years 1863-1890.
