Add a review about the Polish church in Samara

In the center of Samara there is a very unusual building for the Russian city - the Polish church. The full name of this Catholic church is the temple of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. At first glance at the church in the Gothic style, it seems that you are not in Samara, but in some European city.

Only many years later, in 1991, the Polish church in Samara was again recalled - the building was handed over to the Catholic community . The Temple of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was restored, and then re-consecrated.

The history of this temple began in 1890, when the local Catholic community bought a plot of land and built a wooden church. Since the community mainly consisted of Poles, Samarans began to call the church a Polish church. In 1902, under the leadership of architect Foma Bogdanovich, construction of a stone building began. In the 30s the church fell into decay - it was closed, and almost all valuable things were stolen.
