His name is the park, although Emperor Alexander I only conceived it, but did nothing or failed. The project was carried out by Nicholas I, more precisely his Minister of Finance Kankrin, who did not even ask for money for construction from the head of state, he took them from the departmental treasury. Kankrin personally chose and counted the trees for planting in the park, decided how much a glass of cognac would cost in a restaurant - in a modern way, "sick" the project.
According to another version, the park was named not at all in honor of the emperor, on the order of which the first project was designed, but in the name of another Alexander Nevsky. And this is also similar to the truth, since the opening of the Alexander Park was timed to coincide with the Nevsky memorial day on August 30, 1845.
Today there are the Leningrad Zoo, the Music Hall, the metro station, the planetarium, the memorial to the destroyer Steregushchy about the Russian-Japanese war, and inside - the artillery island, entirely belonging to the museum of the same name.
Alexandrovsky Park received second wind during the celebration of the 300th anniversary of Petersburg: the park was reconstructed, 280 trees and almost 2,000 bushes were planted, and the lighting was completely replaced. Sweden donated metal benches and a flower clock - they went to the park.
In the summer, the lawns of the park are occupied by connoisseurs of yoga, martial arts or just idle people, there are full runners on the tracks, children crowd around street theaters and laugh at puppets
