Add a review of the Center for Contemporary Arts in Kaliningrad

The National Center for Contemporary Arts (NCCA) opened its branch office in Kaliningrad in 1997. The Kaliningrad branch was named "Baltic", it was intended for the whole region, but predictability was over. Despite the changes that have taken place since then, the Baltic branch is still working, expanding and will soon acquire its own large gallery - the reconstruction is almost finished - and will become a museum of contemporary art.

In addition, the Baltic branch of the NCCA managed to get quite a lot serious awards in the field of contemporary art, including the thrice prestigious All-Russian Innovation Award and win the large All-Russian competition "The Changing Museum in a Changing World."

The center for amateurs is not oriented (although it must be admitted that such exhibitions are rarely very large) - works of regional, Russian and foreign authors.

Concert - "Laboratory of sound"

The Center holds various events: concerts of musicians playing something non-trivial (sometimes very, very non-trivial), exhibitions of works by avant-garde artists and sculptors, as well as seminars, lectures and discussions (European tradition, which is well established in this traditionally Europeanized region.)

Many unusual events are held here, for example, the recent "Exhibition of Sound Artists", "Russian splint with a vague concept" and many other events at the junction of cultures and genres.

The main programs of the center are "Contemporary Art and Contemporary Society", "Heritage in an Actual Context" and "Art in Public Space". These three programs combine the majority of activities, but, besides them, many and less global themes.

Program

Concerts here usually "on an amateur", let's say - any experiments with sound are possible. Go to them is only if you are a connoisseur of the genre. But it is better for a conservative person to choose something different for the visit.

Many unusual events are held here, for example, the recent "Exhibition of Sound Artists", "Russian splint with an indistinct conception" and other events at the junction of cultures and genres. A separate interesting moment is the performances of the Kaliningrad avant-gardists, often very original.

Also a lot of international events in the field of avant-garde art, mainly Baltic, Scandinavian and Russian-Polish-German, take place in the center. Festivals, exhibitions, seminars, shows, concerts - the most diverse and often very diverse. This is determined by the location of the city, its historical and cultural ties, and its history - it entered the Soviet Union only after the war, before that it was part of Germany.

This center is well suited for amateurs to see something innovative and non-standard on very large, but unusual and bright exhibition.
