130th Quarter is the historical zone of Irkutsk, where dozens of old wooden buildings and residential buildings built in the 18th century are concentrated. Few Russian metropolis can boast such a tourist attraction. Irkutsk Sloboda was created in order to preserve the age-old architectural buildings not only in history books, but also in reality.
For this purpose, reconstruction of existing buildings and those that did not stand the test of time began in 2010
Today, the 130th quarter is located at the intersection of Sedov street, July 3 and Kozova. This is a unique place where you can walk and look in detail at the buildings that have become objects of cultural heritage: manors, mansions and houses that have been built for more than one century
Some of the objects of the 130th quarter At the same time they serve as museums. So, in the house of Zatoplyaev there is a museum of the Siberian railway. In Kurnosov's estate there is a Craft Compound, and in a house in which, according to historical information, a strike of printing workers under the direction of Sergei Kirov passed, the museum complex "Window to Asia" is now open. The museums operate mainly from Monday to Friday in the morning and until five or eight in the evening at local time.
Despite the historical component of the 130th quarter, there are also modern facilities. So, after visiting the old buildings, you can look into the shopping center with boutiques, have a snack in pubs and restaurants.
The fact is that right on the territory of the settlement there is a so-called circle of desires. This is a metal disk with the inscription "Irkutsk 350 years". So, you need to stand on it and, scrolling three times counter-clockwise around its axis, throw a coin and make a wish. If you do everything right, it will certainly come true!
