Add a review about the Uglich Kremlin
The Uglich Kremlin has been developing its history since the middle of the 10th century when fortifications were built on the high right bank of the Volga. Today it is a magnificent ensemble of historical buildings, whose pearls are the Transfiguration Cathedral with the bell tower, the Tsarevich Dmitry Church on the blood, erected on the site of the death of the tsar's son at the hands of the murderers, and the princely chambers with the beautiful grand staircase-porch. Well, the final touch of the ensemble was the erection of the building of the City Duma in the style of classicism in 1815.
Tsarevich Dmitri's church on the blood is an elegant example of Russian architecture with five azure glazes, a small bell tower and a red-and-white facade. Inside, it is worth paying attention to the 18th century murals that are unusual for temples depicting the tragic death of the prince. In the refectory you can see the frescoes on the classic biblical subjects. The princely chambers are interesting with an openwork staircase-porch with a hipped top. And the City Duma building is an excellent example of a strict Russian classical architecture style
