President of Russia Vladimir Putin took part in the opening ceremony of the monument to Alexander I in the Alexander Garden, which was held on November 20, 2014 .
The Mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill, the Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky, public figures and representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church also attended the opening of the monument.
Opening of the monument under the walls of Moscow about the Kremlin is timed to the 200th anniversary of victory in the war with Napoleon. Not far from the monument are bas-reliefs depicting major battles, including the Battle of Borodino.
