Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center, which was opened on November 12, 2012 at the initiative of the Federation of Jewish communities of Russia, is located in the building of Bakhmetevsky garage - a monument of Soviet constructivism, in Maryina Roshcha in the north-east of Moscow. This museum is different from others - it is interactive. The exposition is dedicated to Jewish culture and religious tradition, the history of life and resettlement of Jews, and the history of Jews in Russia.

The plan of the museum consists of three thematic lines converging into one focal point. Thus, in the center formed a kind of triangle, addressed to oblique geometry of the building. Architectural constructions are designed in such a way as to complement the exposition and increase the involvement of visitors

Museum exposition

The permanent exposition of the museum includes 12 thematic spaces created using interactive media technologies. In the first hall you can see a film about the creation of the world in a 4D-cinema, followed by a rest in an Odessa cafe "Funconi", visit a small town market square, study the biographies of Mikhail Romm, Grigory Zinoviev and many other figures of Soviet politics and culture, overhear conversations on a typical Soviet cuisine and stories of dissidents, to commemorate those who died in the Great Patriotic War.

The museum exposition is based not on artifacts, but on information submitted in an interactive form. This allows the visitor to join the research process himself.

The Jewish Museum and the Tolerance Center are the largest Jewish museum in the world and the largest indoor exhibition area in Europe, for the creation of which about 50 million USD were spent.

In addition to the main exposition, in the Museum of Tolerance is a unique project that has no analogues in Russia - a place where everyone can comprehend and experience the experience gained in the museum. Also at the museum there is the Research Center, the Schneerson Library, the space of temporary exhibitions, where the exhibitions of the most famous artists of the 20th century, a shop and a cafe take place.
