The Basilica of San Zeno Maggiore is rightly called a masterpiece of a romantic style. Architects did a great job in the 7th century, when they wanted to invent something that would amaze the residents and visitors of the city.
The majestic facade of the basilica, of course, makes a strong impression - with a golden tufa and pink marble. A little later, during the reconstruction, new artistic elements were added to the design. They have become so many that you can study the facade all day long and memorize all the details. Here, bas-reliefs, statues, different images.
As it is supposed to the religious building, it has a crypt. And quite ominous - this is the body of Saint Zeno, placed in a transparent sarcophagus. And all right, just put the remains, so no, in the evenings the crypt is highlighted.
Basilica is open for tourists every day. The schedule varies depending on the time of year. For example, from March to October - until 18:00, and from November to February - until 17:00. The ticket costs 5 EUR
