Houseboats Kerala, which is located in the southern part of India , is a real "water" area: for 900 km along the coast stretched a whole system of canals, lagoons, rivers, lakes and bays. All water bodies are a source of fresh water, fish, and also by water transport.
Famous floating houses are used as water transport here, which locals call "kettuvallams". In total, there are more than 2,000 such vehicles in the backwaters of Kerala.
Most of them are intended for transportation of grain and rice collected on fertile fields along the backwaters. However, especially for tourists, some of the houseboats have been converted into courts, on which one can live. So on their deck there are minimal conveniences - a toilet and a dining room. Some "houses" are motorized, but most are rafted along rivers at low speed. All interested persons can tour Kerala on board one of these floating houses
