Another castle in the Czech Republic, home to its own enigmatic White Lady, is Pernštejn (Hrad Pernštejn). White Lady, as you understand, this is a ghost, and why another - just read the descriptions of a couple of fortresses (for example, Rozhmberka), and it becomes clear that at one time the Czech Republic was a country of curses and romantic ladies who commit stupid acts. About Pernštejn's lady, we will tell you a bit later, now let's take a closer look at the castle itself.
Located just 40 km from Brno, Pernštejn is considered one of the most significant, impregnable and interesting castles of the country. In the history of this fortress has never been conquered.
What to see
Surrounded by a picturesque green landscape, in the forests of the Bohemian-Moravian Verkhovyna, Pernštejn castle traces its foundation for almost eight centuries. And all thanks to the mysterious Pernštejn family, whose history has been poorly preserved, unlike their ancestral nest - the castle.
The special "zest" of the castle is a tricky and complex defense system, thought out back in the Middle Ages, but it amazes inquisitive minds to this day . Its main advantages are, of course, the location on a high rock, deep moats, descending bridges and impregnable walls with towers . I must say, such freaks would be enough to fight off any enemy . But the owners of the castle went further and built a severe five-story tower Barbora, where they could hide from enemies . The tower is connected with lock only two wooden bridges that you can mo ntalno burn in the event of an enemy attack . Inside the enemy waiting for a narrow corridor, which will not pass any knight in the armor - or undress, sir, or get out . See, there were secrets in the Pernsheitnov family that could not be given either under what circumstances?
What about the lady?
Oh yes! The history of this White Lady is quite interesting . She was not at all a tormented wife or a girl who was forced to marry a girlfriend, the Prinstein White Lady - a maid . Quite negligent, not too coquettish, in a word, a spin-flop . A young servant got her sad fate after the way she stopped attending the Liturgy, finally extinguished the old monk . After trying to reason with the maid, in return he received only laughs, and without a long thought cursed her . After death, the maid turned into a ghost, and since then she has been wandering around corridor m of the castle, all also looking in the mirror, chuckling at the decorous manner and parrotting the gentle tourists .
How to get there
The easiest way to get from Prague or Brno by train, the landmark - Nedvědici railway station, from there to the castle about 2 km of a well-marked trail, it is difficult to get lost.
In addition, you can get by bus from Tišnova in Bystřice (Bysřice nad Pernštejnem).
