25 years on steam on Sri Lanka
February 2, 2011 the celebration of the silver jubilee of the launch of the special tourist steam train Vaisra Laksheri on the route Colombo-Rambouccana was held. In honor of the 25th anniversary of this event, a special brand is produced with a length of 123 mm and a height of 30 mm, which makes it the longest in the history of Sri Lanka. The cost of this brand is 45 rupees. In addition, another 4 brands of 5 rupees each were issued in memory of this event.

To date, Weissroy Laksheri remains the oldest and only private steam train operating in Sri Lanka. Two conditioned cars with 64 seats are attached to the locomotive. Especially popular with tourists are trips to Kandy, to the tea plantations of the mountainous regions of the country, and also down to the southern coast of the island. The train can stop at the request of passengers, which gives them the opportunity to take photos of the surrounding landscape. If you wish, you can even visit the operator's cab.
